Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks

These homemade air fryer mozzarella sticks are the perfect cheesy snack or appetizer. Made in minutes with minimal oil, they’re healthier than deep-fried versions and packed with flavor. Serve with marinara sauce for a crowd-pleasing treat!

Ingredients
  

  • 8 mozzarella string cheese sticks 224g total
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 2/3 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 3 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • Cooking spray or olive oil spray

Instructions
 

  • Freeze the mozzarella sticks for 30 minutes on a tray.
  • Add flour to one bowl, eggs to another, and breadcrumbs with cheese and seasonings in the third.
  • Dip each stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mixture—coat completely.
  • Optional: freeze again for 10 minutes for a firmer coating.
  • Spray your air fryer basket lightly with oil.
  • Place sticks in a single layer without touching.
  • Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 5–7 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Serve hot with marinara, ranch, or your favorite dip.

Notes

  • Freezing before air frying prevents cheese from melting out.
  • For extra crispiness, double dip the coating (egg + crumbs again).
  • Don’t overcrowd cook in two batches if needed.
  • Best served immediately for that gooey cheesy center
